At All Caps, everything starts with curiosity — about nature, creativity, and how small things can lead to massive change. And for founder Felipe Martin, that curiosity took shape in an unexpected place: music.

The Meaning Behind the Name
The name All Caps traces back to one of Felipe’s favorite artists, MF DOOM. On the classic Madvillainy album, there’s a track titled “All Caps,” and in its cover art, a tiny orange square caught Felipe’s attention. That small visual detail inspired the clean, minimalist logo All Caps uses today.
But the name resonated beyond aesthetics. It worked on multiple levels — a nod to mushroom caps, a playful reference to being near the nation’s capital, and even a subtle wink to the Washington Capitals’ “All Caps” slogan. At its heart, though, the brand name is rooted in music and meaning, both essential elements of Felipe’s creative process.
Growing Something Bigger
Felipe’s journey into mycology began through two seemingly different paths: farming and environmental restoration. He discovered the concept of mycoremediation — how fungi can clean and heal ecosystems by breaking down pollutants and balancing the soil. Around the same time, while working at a local aquaponics farm, he began experimenting with mushroom cultivation. What started as a small experiment soon became All Caps Farm, a hub for specialty mushrooms and sustainable innovation.
For Felipe, mushrooms are more than a product — they’re an entry point to education, regeneration, and imagination. While All Caps supplies restaurants, markets, and homes, the deeper mission is about expanding how people think about fungi and their role in a sustainable future.
“If All Caps isn’t actively finding ways to make mushrooms accessible in food deserts or advancing research in mycoremediation,” Felipe says, “then we’ve missed the point.”
Education, Collaboration, and Creativity
Unlike traditional farms focused purely on scaling production, All Caps thrives at the intersection of agriculture, science, and art. Through initiatives like DMA – Developments in Mycelium Applications, Felipe and his team connect global experts to explore how fungi can influence architecture, space exploration, and material science.
Locally, All Caps collaborates with chefs, bakers, and artists to host workshops, tasting events, and creative gatherings that bring communities together. In Felipe’s words, “Mushrooms aren’t just food, they’re a medium for connection.”
Building a Sustainable Ecosystem
All Caps’ model includes several income streams that reinforce one another. Beyond selling at farmers markets and supplying restaurants, the farm runs Monthly Mushies, a subscription program delivering fresh, local mushrooms straight to households. The team also creates value-added products: from dried mushrooms and powders to mushroom jerky and, soon, mushroom coffee.
Education remains a cornerstone. The farm regularly hosts cooking classes, cultivation workshops, and community experiences like Shroom Bloom — where participants craft edible floral arrangements and enjoy them with wine and charcuterie. Through DMA and new school enrichment programs, Felipe is also helping introduce the science of fungi to the next generation.
Each initiative feeds into the next: the farm sustains education, education grows the market, and the market fuels new collaborations. It’s a regenerative system, much like the fungi that inspired it.
The Heart of the Brand
For Felipe, what truly sets All Caps apart is its philosophy. The logo doesn’t feature a mushroom because, as he puts it, “Mushrooms were just the doorway.” The broader vision includes aquaponics, permaculture, and regenerative design, all anchored in the belief that sustainability doesn’t have to be a distant goal; it can start with a single small act.
